Freediving in the Comox Valley

From Point Holmes to Comox Lake, the valley has all that a freediver could dream about. To make the most of your freediving experience, it is highly recommended that you take a course for your safety and the safety of others that freedive with you. In addition, the Molchanov Wave 1, or Wave 2 course will teach you invaluable material about the mammalian dive response, breathing techniques, advanced equalization, how to reach greater depth safely and comfortably, and so much more. All courses are done with an instructor matching your dives for accurate feedback and safety. Courses are offered in beautiful Comox Lake.

What exactly is Freediving?

Freediving is not only an external journey into the water world, it is also an internal journey towards understanding ourselves more and how our body reacts in a state of apnea. It is stepping out of our comfort zone to explore our ability to withstand CO2 gas building up in our body, but also finding peace throughout this under water state. It is about exploring this amazing human capability that we all possess, known as the Mammalian Dive Response (MDR), and finding out how we can use it. Freediving is a different experience for everyone, and I highly encourage you to embark on yours.

My name is Charles, and I am excited to offer freediving courses in the beautiful area of the Comox Valley. Comox is where my journey into the depths began, and since then I have been training in the Caribbean Sea, developing my personal skills, but also a teaching philosophy to foster a safe and enjoyable freediving experience. I became a freediving instructor in Utila, Honduras, where I learned from elite freedivers about a meditative approach to the sport. For me, freediving is a way to connect deeper with the environment and respect its beauty. Spearfishing and harvesting, is one of the many paths to reach a more sustainable approach to eating food, one with more respect for the complex marine ecosystem. Practicing freediving in your life will no doubt increase your understanding of your body and mind, but also enable you to explore your nearby underwater world. I am excited to bring you freediving courses and breathing and stretching clinics, to help you in your freediving and spearfishing endeavors.

Let's explore the depths of our valley together.
